Question about inner sleeves, switched to rice paper after 30 years of plain plastic

I always used the cheap paper or plain plastic sleeves that came with records. Last month I grabbed a pack of rice paper inner sleeves at a shop in Portland on a whim. The static is basically gone and records slide out so easy. My old sleeves felt like they were grabbing the vinyl. Did anyone else make the swap and notice less surface noise on playback, or was I just using bad sleeves for three decades?
