PSA: skip the $45 laminated trail map, just use your phone offline
Grabbed one of those fancy waterproof trail maps at the ranger station for the Lost Creek loop near Denver. Cost me $45 and it tore at the first fold after 30 minutes of hiking. Meanwhile my buddy had the same trail loaded free on his phone with zero signal. I get wanting a paper backup, but mine smudged in the drizzle and became useless. Who else is still dropping cash on paper maps when the free apps keep winning?
