Moving to Houston this weekend and just realized I totally forgot to set up electricity for the new apartment. My credit isn't the best right now so I'm hoping to avoid those crazy high deposits some of these companies ask for. Does anyone know a good prepaid provider that can turn the lights on quickly?

I feel you, those deposits can be brutal when you're already paying moving costs. You should check out Now Power. I used them when I was in a similar spot. No credit check and they do same-day connections if you set it up early enough in the day.
Seconding this. The prepaid model actually helped me budget better too because you can see exactly what you're spending day to day. Just make sure your smart meter is already active at the new place!
