My old walking route feels foreign now that they widened the road
Took my usual loop through the Oak Hill neighborhood last Tuesday after not being there for about a year. They widened Maple Street to add a turning lane and it's a whole different animal. Used to be a quiet two lane with a blind curve near the elementary school, kids crossed right there every morning. Now there's no crosswalk at all, just a painted median and cars fly through at 45 mph. I counted 14 cars pass in the five minutes I stood there, none of them slowed down. Has anyone fought a road widening project and actually gotten the city to put a proper crossing back in?
