Trusted a Yelp review for a water heater fix, got burned
Last month my water heater started leaking from the bottom. I looked on Yelp and this guy had five stars with like 80 reviews, all saying he was honest and fast. He came out, said I needed a whole new unit, quoted me $2,800. I said okay since reviews were so good. He installed it, then two days later the pressure relief valve started spraying water everywhere. Called him back and he said that was normal, which I knew was BS. Had a second plumber come out, turns out the first guy never checked the expansion tank pressure, it was at 90 psi. That fix cost me $120 and the new water heater was fine after that. Has anyone else had a top rated plumber turn out to be a hack?
