Drop-in filter worked, but only after I matched it to the tune

I spent 3 months chasing a rough idle and no power on my 2015 Civic. Replaced plugs, cleaned the MAF sensor twice, even swapped the coil packs. Nothing helped until a local tuner asked if I had changed my air filter. I had put in a cheap drop-in filter from an auto parts store, but it flowed way more than stock. He datalogged and showed the fuel trims were running 12% lean at part throttle. Matched the filter to a street tune he wrote for it, cost me $150 extra, and now it pulls clean with no stumble. If you add a high flow filter without tuning, your car might be compensating the wrong way. Has anyone else seen lean codes from just swapping the filter element? Mileage may vary, but worth checking your long term fuel trims first.
