The taco truck that accepted my broken card and my dignity
Around 11:30 pm last Friday in Grand Rapids, I hit up El Torito's truck for a chorizo quesadilla, but my card reader died right as I tried to pay. The guy behind the window just squinted at me, shrugged, and said, "You look honest, pay me tomorrow." I drove back at noon with cash, but he wasn't there, so now I owe $8.50 to a stranger who might think I skipped out. Has anyone else had a late-night spot trust them on a promise like that?
