Unpopular opinion: I quit checking my investment app every single day

Once I switched to a monthly review, my nerves calmed and I actually saw better growth over time.

Seriously, you can go a whole month without looking at the app? That blows my mind. The first thing I do every morning is check my portfolio, like it's the weather or something. I'd be way too scared of missing some huge drop or a sudden jump. I guess it makes sense that stressing less helps in the long run, but I don't have that kind of self-control. Going from daily to monthly feels like a crazy leap.

Checking less often actually stops you from making bad panic moves. Used to check daily, now I force a quarterly review. The noise just makes you lose focus on the actual plan.

It really is a tough habit to break, checking that portfolio. I completely get the fear of missing a big move. For years, I was just like you, and it led me to sell good stuff during small dips because the daily red numbers felt like an emergency. What @johnd52 said about the noise is so true. That constant stream of ups and downs tricks your brain into thinking you need to act, when usually you don't. Shifting to checking less often isn't about self-control so much as just trying to quiet that background panic. It takes practice, for sure, but the peace of mind is real.
