Roanoke colony case. Common belief is they blended in with locals. Not buying it. That carved word looks like a plant. My guess is a rival group took them.

Honestly, what if the colonists carved it themselves as a distraction? Like, they could have made it look like a kidnapping to hide that they just walked away. Makes the whole thing seem like a staged scene.
