Serious question, did anyone else think you had to hold the shears at a 45 degree angle for every cut?
I was watching a video from a salon in Chicago and the stylist kept her shears almost flat against the comb for a basic blunt cut. I've been lifting everything at an angle for three years, no wonder my lines were never crisp. What's the biggest basic technique you were doing wrong for way too long?

That Chicago stylist is onto something. We get sold on one perfect method for everything, from haircuts to grilling a steak. The real skill is knowing when to break the rule for a better result.

Isn't that just life, @grant.parker, where the best people know when to bend the rules?
