PSA: I was wrong about those new shears from Japan
I saw the Mizutani Hikari shears at a show in Chicago and thought the price was crazy for something so light. A client with thick, curly hair came in last week and I tried them on a whim. They went through her hair like butter without any hand strain. Has anyone else switched to a lighter shear and noticed a difference in their wrist after a full day?

My old shears were over 200 grams and my hand would cramp up halfway through a big job. I switched to a 140 gram pair last year and it feels like I'm holding nothing. I don't even think about my wrist anymore.

Totally get it. I held out for years thinking heavier shears gave more control. My old pair felt like a workout after a few cuts. Switching to a lighter model was a game changer for my hand fatigue, especially during those long bridal party days. The difference in my shoulder by closing time is night and day.
