Pro tip: A customer in Boise brought me a 1911 with a slide that wouldn't lock back.
He said, 'My old man taught me to shoot this, and it's never done this before.' I found the slide stop spring had a tiny burr catching on the frame. Has anyone else seen this specific failure on a Series 80 Colt?

Yeah, I've run into that... a quick polish with a stone usually gets it running smooth again.

The 1980s Seiko service manual actually warns against using stones on certain escapement parts. They say it can change the geometry of the pallet stones. I use a piece of hard Arkansas slip for a light touch.
