Hot take: My scope mount failure makes me question common torque numbers

Ngl, I torqued it to the recommended value and it still came loose after a few shots. I see guys swear by these specs, but I think they're too low for some setups. How do you adjust for different rifles?

They always say torque specs are just a starting point. I bump mine up a bit for heavier recoil.

Bumping up torque for heavier recoil is smart, but don't overdo it. I add about 10% more to the action screws on my rifle. Too much can bend the action or mess with barrel harmonics. Always use a calibrated wrench and recheck after a few rounds.
