Had a customer's .308 bolt gall on the lugs after a cerakote job

I was in my shop in Boise last Tuesday, test cycling a freshly coated bolt action, and it seized up halfway through the lift. Turns out the coating was just a hair too thick on the lug contact surfaces. I ended up carefully stoning the lugs by hand with a fine Arkansas stone to restore clearance. Has anyone else run into this and found a better way to prep the lugs before coating?

Boise on a Tuesday, that's a rough way to start the week lol. I can't believe you had to hand stone the lugs, that sounds like a huge pain.

Hand stoning lugs for even one wheel would take me HOURS, @jason250. I did it once on an old project and my fingers were sore for days. That kind of detail work is a special kind of torture, especially after a long trip. Boise is a cool city but that's a brutal combo for a Tuesday. You have my full respect for getting through that.
