PSA: The stop sign at the corner of Elm and 5th was definitely a yield sign last Tuesday

I drive that route every morning to drop my kid at school, and I know for a fact it was a yield because I rolled through it while checking my phone. Yesterday it was a full stop sign with fresh paint, but nobody in my neighborhood remembers it changing. Has anyone else noticed a street sign just being different overnight with no work crew?

...and that's exactly what happened to me with a different sign a few months back. I was cruising down Maple Avenue, same thing - a four way stop I'd used a hundred times suddenly had a new yield sign at the intersection. I thought I was losing it. Checked the town's Facebook page and sure enough, they'd posted about it two weeks earlier with a diagram and everything. Nobody in my neighborhood saw it either. It's wild how silent these changes are unless you're actively stalking public works social media.

Check if your town's public works department has a social media account. Sometimes they post about sign changes but nobody sees it.

Had you asked me last year, I would have said that's a waste of time. But our water department started a page, and they posted about a road closure for pipe work a full week before the signs went up. It saved me a huge headache.
