I was putting my socks on wrong for years and only noticed at a Denver airport bathroom

So I'm rushing through security at DIA last week, you know how it is. I get to the other side and my feet feel weird, like the seam is on top instead of under my toes. I look down and sure enough, my socks are inside out. I've been doing this for maybe five years, just grabbing them from the drawer and putting them on without looking. The thing that tipped me off was this guy next to me at the sink, he gave my feet this really long stare while he was washing his hands. I followed his look and saw the little tag poking out near my ankle. My whole life I thought that bumpy feeling was just how socks were supposed to feel. Has anyone else had a daily habit they were doing totally backwards without realizing?

That guy's stare was a public service.

The bumpy feeling was just how socks were supposed to feel" is a line that really got me. I did the exact same thing with pillowcases for an embarrassing amount of time, seams on the outside and everything. I have to agree with blakeallen about that stare, sometimes we all need that quiet nudge from a stranger. It makes you wonder what other tiny things we're all getting wrong without a clue.
