Rant: A glass cutting delay that messed up my schedule
I had to get a custom laminated glass piece for a shower door replacement. The shop said it would be ready in two days, but it took five because they were swamped. I ended up rescheduling the client three times, which was a pain. Now I always add a few extra days to my timeline for any special cuts.

I read about a tile shop in Fresno that started putting all their lead times in writing after too many missed calls about delays. Their contract now has a line where they have to update the client by 5 PM if a deadline won't be met, or they knock a small percentage off the total. It cut down on their scheduling headaches a lot.

What?! They didn't even call you when they fell behind? That's the worst part. If they knew they were swamped on day two, a quick heads-up could have saved you so much hassle. It's the total lack of warning that makes a delay go from annoying to actually messing things up. I'd be so mad at the shop for just letting the due date pass in silence. Good call on adding extra time now, because you clearly can't trust their word.
