I was wrong about using a cheap glass cutter for a big storefront job
I had a 20-foot commercial storefront replacement last month and figured I'd save cash by using a $15 hardware store cutter instead of my good one. The wheel chattered on the first few pulls and I ended up with three bad cuts, wasting a whole 4x8 sheet of 3/8" tempered. That's about $400 gone just like that. I mean, I know better now, but it stings. Anyone else have a go-to cutter they swear by for big sheets?

Learn that lesson the hard way too. A cheap tool is just a fancy way to buy the same glass twice. My Fletcher stays in my kit for anything bigger than a picture frame.

Cheap cutters can also mess up your hand strength over time. I had a no-name brand that needed so much pressure my wrist would ache after a few cuts. That extra strain makes it easy to slip and ruin a whole sheet. Investing in a smooth tool protects your glass and your joints.
