I finally tried a new annealing schedule at the Portland studio
Their kiln tech showed me a slower ramp down from 1050 to 950, and my stress cracks stopped completely. Has anyone else had good results with a longer soak at that temp range?

That schedule sounds like the one they use at the Corning Museum hot shop. The extra time lets the thicker sections catch up.

Wait, you're telling me the secret to no cracks is just... waiting longer? My whole life is a lie. I've been rushing the cool down like an idiot trying to beat a timer. So all that stress was just me being impatient, that tracks.
