Choosing between a glory hole and a bench torch for my new studio
I had to pick a main heat source for my small home setup and it came down to a glory hole or a bench torch. I went with a National 3A bench torch because my space is only 10 by 12 feet and I mostly make small pieces like pendants. It cost about $600 to get it set up with the right gas lines, but it heats up fast and gives me good control. After using it for two weeks, I can make a basic marble in under five minutes which is perfect for my workflow. Has anyone else started with a bench torch and later added a glory hole, or do you stick with one?

Unbearable" sounds like a review for a bad date.

My cousin's garage studio is about your size and he runs a Carlisle CC on a bench mount. He tried adding a small glory hole last year but said the extra heat and oxygen use made the whole space unbearable. He ended up selling it and just sticking with the torch for better control on his smaller work.
