My old digital camera just gave up after 15 years
It was a Canon PowerShot A620, bought back in 2006. Last week, the lens mechanism jammed shut with a sad little grinding noise. I tried fresh batteries and a memory card reset, but it's done. It's strange to think how much I relied on that little thing before phones had good cameras. I took it on a trip to Boston in 2008 and the photos still look decent. Has anyone had luck fixing an old point-and-shoot, or is it time to just let it go?

Honestly, my buddy had a similar thing happen with his old Sony Cybershot. The lens got stuck and he found some sketchy YouTube tutorial about prying it open with a guitar pick. Tbh it worked for like a week before it made a worse noise and died for good. Kinda made it worse in the end.

Sometimes a sketchy fix is all you've got left to lose.
