Just realized I was testing smartwatch battery life all wrong...

Been reviewing smartwatches for a small blog for about 6 months now. Used to just throw them on, use them normally for a few days, and note when they died. But I kept getting inconsistent results. Turns out if you set them up fresh and let them sit for a full charge cycle before using, the battery life jumps by like 20%. Something about the battery calibrating... found that out after I got totally different numbers on two identical units from a friend in Portland. Has anyone else noticed this with their review units?

I mean, who needs consistent battery testing when you can just guess like the rest of us.

I really agree with you there, @uma_mitchell83. That line about "guess like the rest of us" hits home. I had a phone a few years back that would shut down at 30 percent battery and I just kept using it anyway, never even looked up how to check the health of it. Finally got a new one and realized I'd been putting up with that nonsense for way too long. Guessing worked out okay for me in the end, but it sure wasn't the smart way to go about things.
