Honestly, that $300 'smart' air purifier I bought is just a fancy fan
Tbh, I got it six months ago thinking it would help with my allergies. It connects to an app that shows you graphs of air quality, but ngl, the numbers seem to just go up and down randomly. I've changed the filter twice already, which is another $50 each time, and I still wake up sneezing. The worst part is the noise it makes on the high setting, it's like a jet engine in my bedroom. I could have bought a basic HEPA filter unit for half the price and it would have done the same job without the useless app. Has anyone else felt totally burned by these overpriced connected gadgets that don't actually do anything better?

Feels like every gadget adds a screen just to charge more.

Yeah, I read an article that basically said what @the_sean mentioned, that half the "smart" features are just there to justify the price hike.
