Can we talk about how a single comment changed how I review stuff?
I posted a video review of a new smartwatch last month, and someone commented 'You're just listing features, not telling me if it's good for a run in the rain.' That hit me. So now, for every gadget, I pick one real world test. For that watch, I wore it in the shower and on a sweaty 5k. My reviews got way better. Anyone else get feedback that totally shifted their process?

That's a great way to focus a review. How do you pick that one test? Like, for a waterproof speaker, do you just dunk it, or do you actually use it in a noisy shower to see if you can still hear the music over the water? I'd worry about choosing the wrong real world scenario.

Oh man, that reminds me of when I used to just read spec sheets for cameras until a friend asked if it could actually take a decent picture of his hyperactive dog.
