Spent 3 years using the wrong grain direction on oak veneer

Last month I finally realized why my oak veneer kept cracking along the edges. Turns out I was orienting the grain perpendicular to the substrate on small drawer fronts. Has anyone else fought with veneer grain direction and found a trick to remember it right?

Nah, I actually think you might be overthinking it. Grain direction matters, sure, but if your veneer was cracking it could also be from bad glue or not letting it acclimate.

Not gonna lie @abby698, I've glued grain the wrong way more times than I've glued my fingers together.
