Talked to a client at the coffee shop about my rates and it messed me up

I was grabbing a coffee yesterday and ran into a client I did a $500 website for last year. He said, 'Man, you saved my business, I should have paid you double.' I've been charging the same flat rate for two years and now I'm questioning everything. How do you know when it's time to raise your prices?

Oof, that client basically gave you a free business audit while waiting for his latte. My wake-up call was when a guy paid my freelance rate without blinking, then spent triple that on a fancy keyboard in the same meeting. If your old clients are telling you to charge more, and new clients don't even haggle, you're definitely undercharging. Time to bump those numbers up before you end up designing a million-dollar brand for a pizza and a handshake.
