Rant: A client from a job board ghosted me after I sent the final files

Last month, I finished a logo project for a small business in Austin. They paid the deposit, everything was fine, and I sent the final high-res files on a Tuesday. I didn't hear back for three days, so I sent a follow-up. Nothing. I checked the job board and their profile was gone. They got $800 worth of work for a $200 deposit. Has anyone else had a job board client just vanish like that?

Austin job boards can be weirdly transient with new pop-up businesses. I always check the client's website domain registration date now before starting. A brand new domain that was bought last week is a huge red flag for me, it means they might just disappear after getting the files. That extra check has saved me from a couple of bad situations.
