Got a free couch in Seattle last month and it had bed bugs

I picked it up from a curb in Ballard, looked clean but I didn't check the seams. A week later, I had bites all over my legs and had to call an exterminator, which cost me $400. Seriously, inspect anything fabric super close before you bring it inside. Has anyone else found a good way to check for bugs on free furniture?

Yeah, checking the seams is a good start but you gotta look at the legs and frame too.

Honestly though, if the seams are solid, that's usually the main weak spot. I've had pieces where the legs were a bit wobbly but lasted years because the actual joint connections were perfect. Focusing too much on the frame can make you miss a bad glue job right where it matters.
