Almost skipped a 'free moving boxes' post because it sounded too good to be true

Last week I was moving apartments in Phoenix and saw a post for a huge stack of clean, broken-down boxes. The listing said 'just come get them' and had a picture of a neat pile. My first thought was, yeah right, someone's gonna want money or they'll be gone in five minutes. But I was desperate, so I drove over to the address near 7th Street. The guy just pointed to his garage, said 'take whatever you need,' and went back inside. I loaded up my car with more than enough for my whole move, all in perfect shape. I felt bad for being so skeptical. It saved me like 50 bucks on buying new ones. When did we all get so used to scams that we doubt a simple nice offer? Has anyone else had a free stuff post work out way better than they expected?

That feeling when you're wrong about people is the best.
