Bought a 'high heat' tape for a core box repair that melted into a $45 puddle in about 90 seconds.

What do you all actually use for quick patching that can handle a real pour?

What did the tape package say the temp rating was? I've had good luck with the heavy duty aluminum foil tape from the hardware store, the kind for ductwork. It's cheap and holds up to a surprising amount of heat if you burnish it down hard. For a real quick patch on a core box, I'll sometimes use a bit of sodium silicate and a torch, sets up like rock.

Trying to read the tiny print on that tape package gave me a headache... I think @mila294 is onto something with the hardware store stuff. My fancy tape just curled up and died.
