Tried using a 50/50 bleach water mix to clean my flower buckets last week and it killed my next batch of carnations overnight.

Ugh that's brutal, sorry to hear it. Did the exact same thing with some ranunculus tubers last season, total wipeout. Rinsed the buckets like three times too, but guess it wasn't enough lol.

Ranunculus tubers are super sensitive to leftover bleach. I switched to using hydrogen peroxide for cleaning my buckets, just a quick soak and rinse. It breaks down into water so there's no chemical residue to worry about.
