That one Saturday last spring when everything went wrong at once...

I had 4 wedding orders due by 3pm and the cooler decided to quit on me at 6am... lost a whole batch of peonies and had to scramble to find replacements at the wholesale market in Portland. Has anyone else had a cooler breakdown right before a big event and how did you save your stock?

My first year I would've said maybe you could just run out and buy more flowers, no big deal. But after losing a $300 cooler of garden roses last July I totally get the panic. Now I keep a backup generator and an extra stash of cheap blooms just in case.

A $300 cooler of garden roses? That made me choke on my coffee. July heat is brutal enough without watching a whole investment just wilt away in a broken cooler. I can totally see why you keep the generator handy now, that's a smart move honestly. Cheap blooms as backup is such a good idea too, better than scrambling at the last minute. I'd probably still be crying about those roses for weeks.
