Little win at a farmer's market bouquet station in Portland

I was down at the Portland Saturday market last weekend helping a friend with her flower stall. She had this big bucket of scabiosa and I arranged a quick bouquet for a customer who was in a hurry. The lady actually stopped and said 'that's the prettiest one here' and bought three more. Made my whole day honestly. Anybody else get a kick out of doing a quick arrangement that just clicks?

That's the thing about flower arranging, it's not just about the blooms themselves. There's a whole energy to it, like you're telling a story with colors and textures. When you get it right, it feels almost effortless, like the flowers just wanted to be together that way. Sounds like you tapped into something special with that quick bouquet, it's not always about spending an hour fussing over every stem. Do you find that your best arrangements happen when you're not overthinking it?

Patricia I'm not sure I buy into all this talk about energy and flowers wanting to be together. They're plants, you know? You cut them, you put them in a vase, and if you have a decent eye for color they'll look fine. People overcomplicate this stuff like it's some kind of spiritual practice. I've made plenty of nice arrangements just by grabbing whatever was on sale and shoving it in a pot. No deep connection required. Maybe the best ones happen when you're not thinking because you just happened to pick the right stems by luck, not because the flowers sent you some signal.
