I keep seeing florists at the market pack hydrangeas wrong

At the wholesale market last Friday, I watched a vendor pack a whole flat of hydrangeas stem-down in a bucket with only two inches of water. The stems were crushed, and the heads were jammed together. I asked about it, and they said it was faster for transport. But those blooms will wilt in hours without proper stem support and hydration. How do you all pack and prep your hydrangeas for delivery to keep them fresh?

See this with everything, people skipping basics for speed.

Maybe it's not always about skipping basics. Sometimes people just learn in a different order. The end result matters more than the path they took.
