I always said 50 stems was overkill for a funeral spray, then last week I did one
A client in Spokane asked for 65 stems on a casket spray and I figured it'd look crowded. But with all the greenery and spacing it actually didn't look bulky at all. Has anyone else tried pushing past what they normally use on big arrangements?

My shop in Spokane used to cap funeral sprays at 45 stems because I thought more would look too tight. Then I did a large piece for a retired florist who wanted 60 stems on a heart shaped frame. I used a lot of seeded eucalyptus and salal to spread them out, and it actually worked fine. But I still think 50 to 60 stems is plenty for most casket sprays. Going to 65 makes me wonder if the flowers get lost in the greenery. Your mileage may vary, but I'd rather add more ribbon or unique texture pieces than keep piling on stems.

Dude, my cousin's a wedding photographer and he once got a gig where the bride wanted 200 sunflowers in the bouquets alone. He said it looked insane on paper but they used a ton of fern and baby's breath to spread everything out, and it actually came out looking super airy. idk, maybe greenery is the secret weapon for pulling off those crazy high stem counts without it looking like a dense jungle.
