Watching guys skip the expansion gap on engineered floors makes me cringe
I see it at least once a month on jobs I walk into after someone else. You need that 3/8 inch gap around the perimeter, period, or you're getting a callback for buckling in a year. What's the fastest way you've found to explain this to a homeowner who wants the boards tight to the wall?

Show them a picture of a buckled floor.

Tell them it's not a floor, it's a living, breathing wooden accordion. They just can't see it breathing yet.
