Warning: Had to choose between a 12 inch plank and a 6 inch for a weird shaped room

The client in Denver wanted her sunroom done, but it had five walls, not four. She gave me the choice between wide planks or narrow ones to handle the odd angles. I went with the 6 inch, thinking the smaller pieces would be easier to cut and fit. It worked, but I spent three hours just on the layout with a protractor. Anyone ever have a room that just fights you on every cut?

Oh man, five walls. That's a special kind of headache. Had a bathroom like that once, every corner was off by a few degrees. Spent more time with the angle finder than the saw. You made the right call on the six inch, no way the wider stuff would have cooperated. Those jobs where the layout takes longer than the install just kill your day.

That layout time sounds about right for a five-sided room.
