Skip pre-sanding and you've just signed up for a bonus round of frustration. Been there, done that.

Oh man, I feel this so hard. I skipped this once on a small floor, thought I could just fill the gaps. Big mistake. The finish looked terrible right where the boards met, all rough and uneven. That one shortcut cost me a whole extra day of fixing it. Never again.
