Finally caught my glue-up mistake after 8 years of doing it backwards

Are you saying you glued things wrong for EIGHT years? I mean, is the sky really falling here? Like, did the projects fall apart or just look a little funny? I've done it backwards a few times and honestly nobody ever noticed. Seems like a lot of drama over something that probably still held together anyway.

My neighbor Bob spent 15 years putting his chair legs in backwards on every single piece he built, and one day his wife finally asked why all their dining chairs had the curved part facing the wrong way. He never noticed because the glue held fine every time, the chairs just looked a little odd from certain angles. The real thing nobody talks about is how muscle memory actually works against you here - your hands learn the wrong motion so deep that you have to unlearn it like a bad golf swing. I had the same issue with clamping my dovetails on the wrong side for about 4 years until a guy in my woodworking club stopped me mid-build and pointed it out. He showed me how putting a piece of blue tape on the bench where the glue goes can break that autopilot habit. So yeah, its embarrassing when you realize it, but the projects probably still came out fine, just with a little extra character.
