Spent 4 hours troubleshooting a Game Gear that just needed the power jack re-soldered

I replaced capacitors, cleaned every trace, and even swapped the screen before I realized the power plug was wiggling loose on the board. Took me two weeks of off-and-on frustration to fix a 10 minute solder joint, anyone else have a repair that should have been obvious way sooner?

Honestly, that two weeks of troubleshooting probably taught you way more than any quick fix would have. If you'd found it in 10 minutes you wouldn't remember half the stuff you learned about Game Gear boards.

Yeah, honestly I used to be the same way. I'd get frustrated if something took longer than an hour and think I was wasting time. But after a few projects like that I realized you're right, the slower fixes are where you actually learn the board layout and how everything connects.
