My old Game Boy Color screen went totally dim on a flight last month
I cracked it open and replaced the polarizer film with a $6 sheet from Amazon, and honestly it looks better than it did new, anyone else mess with those old LCD filters?

Yo that's actually wild you went for the polarizer swap. I've heard of people doing that on old Game Boys but I never tried it myself. How did you even get the old one off without scratching the screen underneath? Because I've seen tutorial videos where people screw that up and end up with permanent bubbles or dust trapped under the new film. Did you have to deal with any of that adhesive residue left behind or was it pretty straightforward for you?

Man that's rough, I've been there myself with a different screen project and it's no joke. The adhesive on those old screens gets so brittle and just feels like it wants to fight you every step of the way. I ended up using a lot of patience and a little bit of heat from a hair dryer on low to soften things up before trying to peel it off. Still left a ton of sticky residue that took forever to clean off with alcohol and a plastic spudger. You definitely have my sympathy on that one, it's one of those jobs that sounds easy in theory but gets real messy real fast.
