Found a 1988 Sony CRT at the dump last Saturday

I was dropping off some old fence boards at the transfer station on River Road and spotted a Trinitron sitting next to the metal bin. It was dirty and the power cord was frayed, but I brought it home anyway. After cleaning the vents and replacing the fuse inside, it actually turned on and the picture is sharp. Has anyone else had luck saving an old tube TV from the dump?

A 1988 Trinitron from the dump? I can't believe someone just tossed that. Those old Sonys are tanks if the tube isn't completely shot. You lucked out with that picture being sharp.

Man I had a buddy who found a late 80s Trinitron at a yard sale for ten bucks back in 2015. Thing weighed a ton but he lugged it home anyway. He plugged it in and the picture was crystal clear right out of the gate, no tweaking needed. Last I heard he still uses it for his retro consoles and swears by it. Those old Sonys really don't die easy.
