That moment a customer showed me what was actually wrong with her sink...
I had a lady come into my shop last Tuesday with a photo of her kitchen sink drain. She said the plumber told her she needed a whole new pipe system for $600. I looked closer and it was just a loose gasket under the flange, like a $3 fix from the hardware store. Has anyone else had a pro try to upsell a huge job when it's something this simple?

That's horrible, that lady could have been out $600 for something that costs pocket change. Plumbers who pull that stuff give the whole trade a bad name. You did a solid by helping her see the real fix. Glad she found someone honest like you.

That 600 dollar quote is exactly the kind of thing that would have made me roll my eyes a couple years ago, but @oliver811 you're totally right, one bad apple ruins it for the honest guys who just want to fix the problem.
