My neighbor insisted I use Teflon tape on compression fittings. I argued with him for 20 minutes.

So my neighbor Dave has been fixing sinks since the 80s. He saw me putting together a new supply line under my kitchen sink and said 'you need tape on those threads.' I told him no, compression fittings seal on the ferrule not the threads. He kept pushing. I gave in just to shut him up. Guess what leaked overnight. Had to take it apart, clean off all that tape shreds, and redo it dry. Works perfect now. Has anyone else had someone insist on bad advice like this?

Bet you Dave has never actually had to clean up after his own advice.
