My kitchen faucet started making a loud banging noise after I tried to fix a slow drip

I had a little drip in my kitchen faucet last weekend, so I went to replace the cartridge. I watched a YouTube video and thought I had it all figured out, but after I put everything back together, the faucet started making this loud hammering sound every time I turn it off. It happens mostly with hot water and it's so loud my wife yelled from the other room asking what I broke. I checked the shutoff valves under the sink and they were both fully open, so I'm not sure if that's the issue. I think I might have knocked something loose in the supply lines or maybe trapped air in the system. Has anyone else had this happen after messing with a faucet cartridge?

...so you banged around inside the cabinet while swapping that cartridge, right? Did you happen to jostle the supply lines or the shutoff valves at all? Because that hammering sound you're describing, especially with hot water only, it could be a loose pipe bouncing around inside the wall. I'd double check that the copper supply lines or the braided hoses aren't touching anything, like the cabinet floor or the drain pipe, because if they're rattling against something when the water slams shut, that's your noise. Also, did you make sure the cartridge was pushed all the way in and seated right? If it's even slightly crooked, the water pressure can bounce back and cause that hammer effect. Might be worth pulling it out and reinstalling it one more time, just to be sure.

Yeah I did something similar once when swapping a faucet, knocked a supply line loose and it rattled against the drainpipe every time the toilet flushed. Took me three days to figure out it wasn't the faucet at all.
