That time I read my own story draft out loud in a coffee shop
I was in a Starbucks in Nashville last month and decided to read my first draft of a short story out loud to myself. Hearing the clunky dialogue made me cringe so bad I immediately crossed out half the lines with a pen. Has anyone else felt like writing looks fine on screen but sounds terrible spoken?

Absolutely roasted myself the same way last week. Read a scene out loud and realized my characters sounded like robots trying to talk about feelings. Wound up rewriting half the page with a red pen right there in the booth.
