My first attempt at a short story had a giant plot hole I missed for 2 months
I wrote a 3 page story about a guy losing his dog in the woods and finding it again. But last week my friend pointed out the dog was described as a golden retriever at the start and a border collie at the end. I never even noticed because I was too focused on the emotions. Now I have to rewrite the whole middle section to make the dog change make sense. Has anyone else had a character or detail swap on them like that without realizing it?

Now I have to rewrite the whole middle section" - do you really though? It's a 3 page story, just swap the breed in the first part to border collie and call it done.
