Just realized I've rewritten the same opening scene 47 times

I was scrolling through my draft folder last night and counted 47 versions of chapter one for my sci-fi story, all trying to describe the same desert planet. Has anyone else hit a crazy number like that and just had to step back from a project for a while?

Hit 40 something once on a fantasy opening and had to walk away for a full month. You start second guessing every single word choice and it just makes the whole thing worse. Taking a step back helped me realize the problem wasn't the writing, it was that I didn't really know where the story was going yet. Give yourself some space and come back with fresh eyes, it might click differently.
