Why does everyone paint their front door red

I almost painted my own door red last month after seeing it everywhere. Then my neighbor said red fades faster than any other color especially in direct sun and now I notice all those faded red doors in our neighborhood. Am I overthinking this or do you guys actually check how paints hold up first?

Huh, I never really thought about the fading thing. I just thought red doors looked cool and made the house pop. Now I'm gonna notice all the faded ones too, thanks for that.

Drove past my buddy Mike's old house last week and his red door was so faded it looked almost pink, like a sunbleached peony or something. He painted it that deep crimson when he moved in, real proud of it, and within two years it was totally washed out (he lives in Arizona, the sun is brutal out there). He finally gave up and went with a navy blue instead, said he was tired of repainting every summer.
