Warning: Those cheap solar path lights from Amazon ruined my garden beds
Bought 24 of them for $60 last spring. They looked fine for about 2 weeks. Then the hinges rusted out, plastic cracked, and the batteries leaked green crap into my soil. Had to dig out 4 feet of dirt near my front walkway and replace it. Cost me another $40 in fresh soil and plants. Has anyone found a solar light that actually lasts more than one season?

Stick with metal body lights and replace the batteries with name brand rechargeables.

Used to think all solar lights were basically the same, but your story changed my mind completely. That battery acid leaking into the soil is something I never even considered, sounds like a real nightmare to clean up. I'll be saving up for a better brand instead of grabbing the cheapest option on Amazon.
